Italian pianist Giovanni Guidi teams up with Thomas Morgan/b and Joao Lobo/dr for a collection of gentle originals. The soft and delicate interplay is similar to the Scandinavian pianists like Bobo Stenson and Tord Gustavson; lots of space between the three artists make each time they chime in together all the more dramatic. Highly lyrical pieces like the title track and “Just One More Time” spotlight the leader’s soft hands and introspective romanticism that has Morgan’s bass supply deep pastels of color while Lobo’s conversational cymbal work adds accents and direction. Ruminative and reflective, this is a disc of letting your mind daydream into thoughts of the previous day.
