Moody Blues founder Justin Hayward finds that there’s life beyond the blue horizon on this impressive solo session. Much of the music retains that wondrous musicality and warm hearted romanticism that mad the MB’s such a popular group in the 70s. “On the Road to Love” and “One Day, Someday” and “In Your Blue Eyes” are romantic pieces without the overwhelming melodrama of the infamous mellotron that dominated the music scene way back when. Most surprising is when Hayward goes a bit country as on “What You Resist Persists” and then a bit techno on some remixes of “One Day, Someday.” At least he’s trying mixing some new wine in old wineskins!
