On the back of this cd by Koby Israelite, under the bar code, it reads “File Under Jazz/Jewish/Rock.” The music here is sort of what you’d think Klezmer would be if it started post WWII-rocky, eclecticly electric and flying in tons of directions at once. The list of instruments he plays is overwhelming; take a deep breath and say…accordion, drums, percussion, guitars, electic bass, banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, clarinet, soprano sax, sopranino sax, piano, keyboards, flute and vocals. He allows some other guests on but this is essentially Israelite’s gig, and he can make the music smoothy and schmaltzy or raucous and rabid. Definitely music for the ADD, or at least the ADHD!
