Here’s a solo guitar release that shows the various prismatic colors that can come from six creative strings. Jonathan Kreisberg uses acoustic and electric guitars, as well as various effects, to produce a multi-hued collection of sounds. The two self-penned tunes, for example run the ax through some effects that create a Baroque organ effect, making “Without Shadow” a trip back in time and “Escape From Lower Formant Shift” a step into the sonic future. His electric guitar produces a reharmonized and slightly elliptical “Summertime” as well as a cozy and intimate “I Thought About You.” Most impressive is his ventures on acoustic with gutsy excursions to Wayne Shorter’s “ESP” and Juan Tizol’s “Caravan” exploring wondrous territories. This guy’s got moxie!
