Eberhard Weber: Resume’

Best known for his work with Jan Garbarek, bassist Eberhard Weber leads the way here with a collection of concert recordings with Garbaerek in the sideman role of sax and flute and Michael diPasque keeping things together with percussion and drums. The material ranges with mix and matches of solos, duets and trios. Garbarek’s flute is intriguing on the mystical “Bath” and his saxes add extra texture to “Amsterdam” and “Bochum.” ( I assume that by now, you see that the tunes are named after the towns they were performed in). “Lazise” includes DiPasqua’s percussive contributions, while most of the rest of the material has Weber exploring moods, textures and chops via his patented 5  string electric bass and atmospheric keyboards. His solo pieces are quite intriguing; listening to him on “Wolfsburg” and Liezen” make you feel like you’re observing a master craftsman in his workshop. Good for either the foreground or backstreets of your mind.
