Greg Duncan plays trumpet and flugelhorn here, and leads a hip band of Corbin Andrick/ts-as, Sturart Mindeman/key, Jon Deitemeyer/dr, and Patrick Mulcahy/b through a collection of Latin jazz material. The music is listed by types of dances, always a favorite of mine, so you’ve got rumbas (“De Camino”), tangos (“Straighten Up”) and even a tanguillo rendition of the classic “Poinciana.” Some vocals, palm clapping and cajon work make cameo appearances, but for the most part the breezy material cruises like a 72 El Camino.
