He’s enlisted a collection of sidemen and partners that sound like a souped up Chevy Bel Air: Joey DeFrancesco, Bruce Foreman, Derek DiCenzo, Donny McCaslin, Adam Nussbaum, Reggie Jackson and various singers and choirs will take you to down home blues like “Ashleen” to grooving marathons like “Slow Down Sagg.” Some classic boogaloo emanates from the speakers on “Pasta Faggioli,” but the highlight is a get up and raise your hands gospel groover, “Just Give Thanks and Praise.” You could play this every day you wake up in the morning, and it will make your day brighter.
