This pianist caught my ear a few years ago with some clever readings of Boomer tunes with her trio, and she continues to impress me with each release. This time around she’s going the solo route, and even more of her strengths come out. Her touch is as calming as the fingers of your shampoo-ist at the local salon, as she glides with confidence, depth and aplomb on her own tunes like “La Noche” and “Sea And Sand.” She has an excellent intuitive mix of space and clutter on a tune like “Yada, Yada Yada” while hver take of the Billy Joel hit “And So It Goes” adds an extra prism of color to the theme. Standards like “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” and “What Is This Thing Called Love” have a modern hipness without being ostentatious, while Monk’s “Evidence” has a perfect angularity. This is something you could listen to all day, in a variety of moods. Love this lady!!
