Honey-toned vocalist Amy Cervini has a playful sound to her delivery as this well rounded disc of standards and obscurities amply demonstrates with a regular team of Bruce Barth/p, Jesse Lewis/g, matt Aronoff/b and Matt Wilson/dr. She likes to keep it jovial, as she displays on songs by either sung by Blossom Dearie (“I Like You, You’re Nice”) or associated with her (“Rhode Island”). The latter has her in a serene atmosphere with just her and piano, while the latter bounces, along with “My Attorney Bernie” like a Super Ball. Extra horns add depth to a peppy “Everything You’ve Got” and a cleverly bossa’d “I’m Shadowing You,” while her opening of “Tea For Two” with guitarist Lewis is as luscious as it gets. Impressive in concept, style and delivery. What else is there?
