Mario
Grigorov
Paris To Cuba
Warm and Genuine Records
www.warmandgenuinerecords.com
Composer/keyboardist Mario Grigorov is best known for
scoring films,
and this release has that type of feel to it. The music has a gorgeous
and alluring Latin lilt to it, ranging on tunes like the energized
“Cuban Soil, Cuban Sun” to the calm and romantic piano solo
“Ice
Hotel.” The handful of vocal tracks are classic over-the-top latin
lover laments, with “I See” getting a little hot under the
collar. The
arrangements can be eclectically rock/cuba like “I See” or
simple and
sensuous like the bass/percussion/guitar conversation of “Three
Dozen Roses.” Eclectic and electric.
