While the title suggests a major sized ensemble, The Living Earth Show actually consists of two Bay Area guys Travis Andrews/g and Andy Meyerson/dr-perc. Mixing art with craft, this album of five tunes veers somewhere between assertive ambience and tongue in cheek musical conversations. Except for the heavy metal guitar fuzz that dominates “Repetitive Stress,” most of the songs consist of bluesy noodlings that meld classical and indie pop with jazz sensibities. A pastoral “Family Man” has some intriguing moments, while the pair of “Tension Study” pieces go from formulaically mechanical to ruminating, making you wonder which you prefer.
