Here’s an attractive Christmas album that feels artist as well as celebrative. The vocal quartet New York Voices deliver a well rounded collection of Yuletide tunes in a variety of settings, with each one coming off like a selection from a Whitman Sampler of chocolate joys. Big band tracks such as the brassy “Let It Snow” and “The Merry Medley” are filled with finger snapping rhythms. A gorgeously unaccompanied “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” is a wondrously reflective respite, while a fun “Holiday For Strings” makes you feel like you’re in Miracle on 34th Street. A clever reading of Bach’s “Sleepers, Awake” sets you up for the Teutonic take of “Silent Night,” and all that’s missing is the snow and egg nog.
