Here’s either a 45 rpm vinyl album or 20 minute download by Chris Campbell and Grant Cutler. They, along with guests Michelle Kinney, Jacqueline Ultan and Joey Van Phillips, make a seven part suite out of the Irish folk ballad “Schooldays Over.” Three of the parts are songs which feature Cutler’s vulnerable voice backed by eerie sounds such as organ. Images of dark attics with cobwebs and hints of light cracking through the windows are envisioned on the long notes on “Piano, Cellos, Glockenspiel,” and some spooky ambience is felt on “Marimba, Synts, Piano” and the dreamy “Cello bath, Koto” feels almost subconscious. Ambience for those gloomy days where there’s a storm outside.
