If you’ve got a heart for the infectious groove of samba and bossa
nova, this release takes the venerable genre and gives it a kick into
the 21st century. The disc comes off like a sampler, with a wide
variety of singers, sounds and rhythms throughout. A bit of synthesized
drumming is present on material like “Samba n Mao, Eu Tenho” which also
includes irresistible cooing of Tamy, while “Minha Loucura” includes
some guitar licks over a synthetic vibe. Funky soul by Fino Coletivo’s
“A Coisa…” is contrasted with some nice alto sax work on “Feriado
Pessoal” by Bruna Caram, and some thick bari sax punctuates
“Bananeira” by the Brazilian Groove Band. A mix and match of sounds
from a style of music that sounds great in any setting.
