Sweet Megg: Bluer Than Blue

With a voice sounding like she’s a regular at the local VFW, Sweet Megg mixes jazz and country that is reminiscent of what we used to call “Western Swing” on this fun set. She’s teamed with a horn section of Mike Davis/tp, Ricky Alexander/cl-ts, and Sam Chess, strings from Billy Contreras/fi, Justin  Poindexter/g and Chris Scruggs/stlg and a rhythm team of Dalton Ridenhour/p, Dennis Crouch/b and Chris Gelb. The tunes range from a Moose Lodge read of Duke Ellington’s “In A Sentimental Mood” to two stepping New Orleans swingers like “Bluer Than Blue”. Home spun homilies include the nostalgic “(Remember Me) I’m The One Who Loves  You” and the two stepping take of Bob Wills’ “San Antonio Rose”. Belly up to the bar for this babe!
