Nation Beat: Archaic Humans

The team Nation Beat, consisting of Scott Kettner/dr, Paul Carlon/ts, Mark Collins/tp, Tom McHugh/tb,and Heather Ewer/sous is kind of a mini version of the Dirty Dozen Brass band, playing street sounds associated with the Crescent City, but using original compositions in doing so. There’s a fun Afro Calypso to “Science Tribs” and some snappy drums for Carlon on “Maracatu Gigante” with McHugh sliding strong on the percussive “Forr Le Fonque”. Christyles Bacon ads some rap feel to “Give A Little” and the urban “A New Flow” while Melanie Scholtz is dreamy around the horns on “Inutil Paisagem” and she slithers across the floor on “Rhythm of Your Dreams”. Joys of Bourbon Street.
