Vivienne Aerts: Typuthang

Dutch bred and NY-based vocalist and composer Vivienne Aerts mixes multiple layers of voices, samples and even some instruments on this artsy album of sonic visuals. The album comes across like a musical mosaic, juxtaposing four “Soundscapes” with actual songs. Of the former, ehteral natual sounds from nature to children make up the various short vignettes, while on the actual songs, there are some dreamy strings and voices on “Silence”. There’s a parlor feel to the reeds and voices on “Concept of Falling”, with “What Will We Be” the most overtly jazzy tune, hiply delivered in voice, whiel harp and electric guitar float on “You’re My Morning”. Songs of a walk in the museum of modern art.
