Steve Marriner: Hope Dies Last

With a gruff and gravelly voice, Steve Mariner accompanies himself on guitar, bass, drums and piano along with a supporting team that includes Jim Bowskil/g, Jesse O’Brien/key, Darcy Yates/b, Glen Milchem/g and various rotating guests on this blues rocker of a session. He specializes in fist pumping rockers as he delivers with heat “Take Me To THE City” and the Aerosmithy “How High” and “Hear My Heart”. He adds old school harmony to the acoustic “Coal Mine” and the folksy “Long Way Down” while even throwing in some French lyrics for the New Orleans riffed “Petie Danse”.” Samantha Martin loans her Bonnie Raitt-styled voice to the resonant blues of “Enough” and the team adds some gospel festivities to “Somethin’ Somethin’”. Juke joint joys.
