Jean-Louis Matinier & Kevin Seddiki: Rivages

A mix of rich folk moods and harmonics are created by Jean-Louis Matinier on the accordion and guitarist Kevin Seddiki on this bohemian ensemble of tunes. Matinier does masterly work with his squeeze box, as you can hear the buttons popping like Kim Kardashian’s blouse as the fingers dance to “Feux Follets” while glowing orchestrations create a palpable texture on the dramatic “Reverie”. Both guitar strings and accordion sigh on the dreamy “Les Berceaux” and the two take a lyrical journey into the Old World on “Schumannsko”” while meditative moments contemplate on the slowly undulating “Miroirs”. The most assertive is the tango nuevo read of “Greensleeves” that have the two sweeping across the hardwood floor with gasping pants and assuring strings converge on “Apres la Pluie”. Intimate conversations by well read friends.
