Cool toned guitarist Frank Kohl delivers a richly pastoral collection of tunes with nylon guitarist John Stowell and bassist Steve LaSpina on this mix and match of originals and standards. The lovely droplets of strings works well on originals like the gracious title track and the easy and relaxing swing of “Sojourn.” A clever take of a standard is switched around with LaSpina getting some work on “Middle of Nowhere” and he’s up front and clear with lovely support by the guitarist on “The Goodbye.” A pair of bossas gracefully glide with Tom Jobim’s “O Grande Amour” and “Brigas Nunca Mais” swaying to a rich pulse, while “New Moon” is a lovely Iberian mooded tune. Sounds of morning mist.
