With Kalimba, you get some exotic tones as on “A Gathering Of Elders” and the exotic “At The Crossroads of Touba” while the team bops on Weston’s “Hi Fly” and goes post bop on “ Dinner Chez Gladys.” Melba Liston’s “Just Waiting: A Sister’s Lament” is a palpable deep mix of reeds, with Asian flute harmonies giving shade like a Bodhi tree on “World 3: The Last Goodbye.” Life affirming melodies.
