The two guitar team of Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quinero mix exciting and concise material with a rich and ambitious opus on their latest release. Each song is delivered in a Spartan atmosphere, with usual only support by D. Sarby providing bass, keyboards or percussion, with a one off by pianist Caludia Sarne. The shorter pieces, such as the title track, includes a bit of electric rock guitar leading into dramatic nylon strings and intense conversations. Some rich slide guitar takes the ears on a bluesy trip on “Terracentric” while lovely flamenco pickings get exciting on the passionate and dramatic “Cumbe” or gentle on the lyrical “Electric Soul.”
The 19 minute “Echoes” is a serene journey based on the famed Pink Floyd album side, but here it includes harplike strummings, synthetic ambience, building up int chiming strings and releasing int a spacious contemplation, elegantly unfolding into a rest high on a mountain after an panoramic climb. It is a variant of the 70s prog rock anthem, and although it begins with the same note, it takes you on a different trail. A wondrous journey that hopefully will be shared when they tour this summer. Look out for them in your locale!
