If you ever wondered what Brian Eno’s Ambient Music would sound like from a tenor saxist, then Bendik Giske is the guy you wanna see, or at least hear. The Scandinavian records a wide variety of sounds, with the microphone put in some precarious places in order to get as intimate at up close sound as this. Songs such as “Adjust” and “Up” mix his amazingly clear tone with swirling lines and percussive puffs from the pads, while a piece such as “Through” sounds like someone sprinting in a chase, and finally slowing down in exhaustion. Low subtones are visceral and palpable during the grinding “Hole” and swirls and sonic wallpaper coalesce during “Up.” A trip into the recesses of a Selmer.
