Soft watercolors are painted by bassist Mats Eilertsen along with his mates Harmen Fraanje/p and Thomas Stronen/dr on this latest release. Wide spaces and sparkling stars are dominant on this dreamy collection of originals, as bass and drums go bump in the night on “Perpetum” or create a somber pulse with Fraanje during “After the Rain.” Stronen’s brushes skate underneat the delicate “Albatross” and the pair of luminous reads during “22.” Fraanje’s hands are rich for the longing “Soften” and takes the spotlight on a lyrical “Solace.” Quiet nights.
