Drummer and composer Darryl Kniffen creates a rocking fusion session teaming with Matt Steckler/sax, Dylan Canterbury/tp, Jun Iida/tp, Frank Roberts/p, Shaun McCarthy/g, Jason Schwartz/b and various guests. The mix of trumpet and electric guitar makes for some upbeat post bop work as on “Blackness” while some Latin percussion percolates on the title track. Warm horns dance with Roberts on the optimistic “Peace Journey” while producing moody shadows during “Midnight Drive.” Kniffen and Roberts do an exciting table dance on the peppy “Tick Tock” while cascading on the prancing “ Song of Everest.” Sparks fly in abundance here.
