Crystal moods are created by pianist Bobo Stenson and his team of Anders Jorman/b and Jon Falt/dr. The trio works on starry starry nights of sound, starkly swinging as Falt’s cymbals chime and drive the stark moods on “Doubt Though the Stars” and brushes like wind through the pine leaves in a kinetic yet reflective “Oktoberhavet.” Jorman’s bluesy throb teams with a rich backbeat as the leader rumbles on “Stilla” and Nordic nocturnes team with reflection and percussive effects on “Hemingway Intonations.” The pieces come across as tone poems to Northern Lights, shining and creating wondrous effects.
