With the vocals of Marian Da Cruz and the teaming of Ane H/el, Pit Lee/dr, Oliver Husmann/g, Nidlaus Hurny/tp and Marc Stucki/sax, Da Cruz brings post modern sounds to the tradition of Brazil. Maria Da Cruz has an earthy and passionate voice, using it with a thick and hip hoppy environ on the festive “Pais Do Futuro,” “Negra Sim” and percussive “Centro Do Mundo.” Tribal percussion teams with chants on Nossa Meneira” and with Stucki’s baritone sax on the excitingly primal Sinha’ Mandou. Some reggae even gets into play sduring “Babilonia SP” and “Numero Um” making this album a world wide event. Must be some party that they make in concert!
