SO, 8 BEATS WALK INTO A BAR…Kim Wilson: Blues and Boogie

Kim Wilson growls on the harmonica and sings like a carney barker through 16 boogie-non stop shuffles. A rotating team of gun stringing Strats by Big Jon Atkinson, Nathan James, Billy Flynn, Bob Welsh and danny Michel team up with bassists Troy Sandow, Larry Taylor and Kadar Roy while drummers Richard Inness, Marty Dodson and Malachi deliver the backbeat, while  Barrelhouse Church adds strident  piano on the New Orlean’s grooved “No Love In My Heart” along with Jonny Viau’s horns.
As for Wilson, he howls like an October wind on the harp on the relentless “Bonus Boogie” and shuffles to Buffalo on “Edgier.” And “Mean Old Frisco.” He sings with a voice like a catcher’s mitt on “No Love In My Heart” and the folky “From The Bottom” and can shuffle to Kansas City on “Same Old Blues.” If you like your blues to stick to your ribs, put this dry rub of a guy on your grill.
