A free form co-op of Mark Langford/bcl-ts, Phil Gibbs/eg, Roger Skerman/dr, Paul Anstery/b and Hugh Kirkbride/b get together for 8 songs that are wide ranging in tone, dynamics, directions and time of song. The focus is on spontaneity, which in most of the cases leads to fluttering reeds and ricocheting beats on pieces like “Bird Fish Snake” and traffic jam chaos on “Scuttle.” Langford’s tone and delivery gives hints of Ivo Perelman as Gibbs adds guitar effects on “Streek” while he flutters on “Ripple.” Some heavy and raucous guitar work bangs the head with distortion on’ Trag” and there’s a free exchange of ideas between Langford’s bass clarinet and Gibbs on ”Fizzle.” Loose as a goose with lots of ideas, some able to stick to a wall once in awhile.
