Ryan Meagher plays guitar, Wurlitzer pain and even sings on this flexible album with a post bop team of Tim Willcox/ts, Chris Higgins/b and Charlie Doggett/dr. The group has a light sound with Meagher’s guitar supplying the soft safety net as Willcox’s tenor swings easily on “The Hipster’s Folly” and the rich “Skip.” Meagher’s guitar is thoughtful with Higgins on “Vasona” and does some clever strums on the askance and elliptical “Children of the Park” while he creates some effects as Doggett rocks the band during “Banter. The group has excellent cohesion, even when stretching out a bit as on the dark and shadowy “Platitudes.” A rich mix of swing and sway.
