Here’s an intimate meeting between vocalist/keyboardist Sara Serpa and guitar-bassist Andre’ Matos. Together, they deliver soft pastels of sound through voice and instrument.
Serpa’s singing ranges between wordless tender floating cirrus clouds as on “Calma” with some extra textures of her vocals on “Os Outros” and “Agua” with droplets of water added by Matos’ guitar and Billy Mintz’s percussion. She also delves into English verse, with an Indie-sounding “Night” with Moatos’ electric guitar, while “Espelho” produces wordless celestial seasonings. The sounds get quite ambient at times, and with Pete Rende’s synthesizer on a few tracks, the sounds hover like a gentle mist as on “Story of a Horse” and “amlaC.” Quiet nights with quiet stars.
