Richard Elliot brings his tenor sax to a soul stirring session on this toe tapping album. He mixes elements of classic R&B and funky horns with a backbeat with Franklin Richardson III/dr, Lenny Castro/perc, Randy Jacobs-Gerey Johnson/g Nathaniel Phillips/b and Ron Reinhardt/key and some cameos with various horn players.
He taps into his inner O’Jays with a snappy “Chachaca” whlie a hip bass line and riff make “Back To You” a throwback to the Isley Brothers. With the contemporary feel, Elliot delivers an old school rich and thick sound on the tenor, filling the room on “West Coast Jam” and grunting with delight on the back beat of “Breakin’ It Down” and the James Brown flamer “Summer Madness.” If you want to dance, here’s your dee jay.
