John Brown’s Body: Fireflies

The band John Brown’s Body has been delivering reggae for twenty years, and are still sounding frsth. The mix of the irresistible beat with earthy horns continues to work on their most recent album. Vocalist Elliot Martin has a rich and earnest voice, piercing through the grooves laid down by Tommy Benedetti/dr, Jon Petronzio/key, Dan Africano/b and Jay Spaker/g, with the horns by Mikey Vitale/ts, Sam Dechenne/tp and TJ Schaper/tb mixed with additional guests to perfection. The horns do lots of swaying on “High Grade” “Pure Fire” and “Mash Them Down” while rich bass licks by guest Nate Edgar add to “Badman” and the title track. The team gets nice and sweaty all throughout. A tour is coming up, so look out for the oncoming pulse.
