Sundae + Mr. Goessl: Makes My Heart Sway

It must be assumed that vocalist Kate Voss is “Sundae,” as guitarist Jason Goessl obviously fits well with the second half of the duet’s moniker. The team specializes in vintage Tin Pan Alley pieces such as “Stompin’ At The Savoy” and “Fascinating Rhythm’” and make the songs sound fresh and upbeat. Voss has a vocal tone and delivery style quite similar to Anita O’Day, right down to her warble and “ye-ye-ye” at the end of certain syllables. Her timing is vo-cool on”Love Me Or Leave Me” and she  flutters perfectly on “Young AT Heart.” Goessl is the prefect accompanist, bending his strings inperfect time with Voss’s swoop on “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans” and providing clever intros to “Nature Boy” and “Confessin.”Charming your socks off.
