Jeff Plankenhorn takes you to the back roads of Texas and the south with his collection of bluesy guitars. He teams up with Miles Zuniga/g-p, Yoggie/b, brannen Temple/dr Dave Scher/key, Rami Jaffe/key, Peter Adams/key and various other guests to create a panoply of earth toned moods.
You get some foreboding Delta sounds with vocals in the boogying “Lose My Mind” and a stomping vocal duet on the Sam and Dave tune “You Got Me Hummin’.” Chiming chords team with voices on “Like Flowers” and a smoky B3 oozes around languid picking on “Trouble Find Me.” The band boogies on “Live Today” and Nashville sounds are pretty on “Headstrong” and “Walking In The Sun.” Dark rain clouds overhang with Plankenhorn’s picking on “Kansas City Nocturne” and some hip picking is on display on “Vagabond Moonlight.” Gonna like this one!
