Jaime Mancera, hailing from Colombia, South America, puts together a team of Jeff Berlin/b, Sean Wayland/key, Nick Moroch/g, Nate Wood/dr and Memo Acevedo/perc as he plays smooth jazz with his sax collection. The mix of tunes are upbeat and lyrical latin tunes like “Hola Sunshine” and the title track with Mancera’s soprano clear and warm. He’s got more ummph in his tone than Kenny G, and while the sounds can at times sound like an Armenian wedding with the genteel keyboards, there is still enough muscle in pieces such as “Cumbachanda” and “Rico Swing” to satisfy mainstream fans.
