Vocalist Laura Perlman delivers standards with an old soul as she teams up with Bill Cunliffe/p, Mark Sherman/vib, Chris Colangelo/b and Joe La Barbera/dr. She has a tender vibrato and uses it in a mature and relaxed manner on tunes like “I’ve Never Been In Love Before” and the bouncy “I’m Old Fashioned.” Sherman’s vibes ad a Latin edge to “I’ve Grown Accustomed to His Face” and Cunliffe is laconic along with Perlman on a reflective “You Go To My Head.” A dreamy “My Foolish Heart” is a treat while the soft samba feel on “Every Time We Say Goodbye” is a clever change of pace. Well done!
