Here’s a fun filled reggae fest that includes the vocals of Fred Locks and his meeting with director-percussionist, woodwinder, keyboarder-what have you David Ondrick. The bring together a whole slew of musicians that come and go in the background, supplying nice textures to vintage Jamaican grooves. Ondrick’s alto sax is a treat here, with some nice solos on “Mellow Feelings,” “Reggae Addict” and “ Live to Love.” Horace James’ Hammond B3 livens things up on Love Don’t Take No Holiday” and “Summer Dub,” but the treat here is the exciting vocals of Locks, who brings earnest ferver on each piece, ranging from “ Time to Shine” to “Easy Spirit.” Earthy and vibrant.
