Blues rocking vet Jimmy Vivino serves up a comfort food plate on this collection of juke joint jumpers. He’s got a road kill team of Jesse Williams/b and Rich Pagano/dr while he handles acoustic and electric guitars, piano, B3 and sings like a bouncer at The Palomino.
Joe Bonamassa sits in for a mix of acoustic slide and plugged in stomping on “Blues in the 21st” while John Sebastian gives a lovin’ spoonful of harmonica and acoustic pickings on a back porched blues of “Back Up The Country” and a boogie shuffler “Beware of the Wolf”. The trio holds its own without any guests, however, with Williams delivering a nasty bass l ine under Vivino’s snarls on “Ain’t Nuthin’s Gonna Be Alright” and Pagano adds to the Chicago blue mood of “Better Days Ahead” and the boogalooing “Ruby Is Back”. Vivino tells a good story on the title tue, and gives a Cajun feel on the rural “Goin’ Down Fast”. Check all your hubcaps on the way out.
