Pianist Satoko Fujii brings together an ensemble of Yuriko Mukoujima/vi, Ayako Kato/vi, Atsuko Hatano/va-el, Hiroshi Yoshino/b and Akira Horikoshi/dr for a five part suite. The dark strings hover on “MOrining Hae” and create an eerie atmosphere with the leader on “Morning Sun”. The rhythm team rapidly gallops through “Early Afternoon” before the strings buzz like bees on “Light Rain” and close out on an agonizing “Twilight”. Long shadows in the cornes.
Keiji Haino plays guitar and Natsuki Tamur blows a trumpet as well as making sounds with toys, and both add percussive voices to a 35 minute opus. Plucked string, splattering brass, squawks, and buccinators blowings make for an elliptical and kaleidoscopic journey of sounds akin to a wind chime made of six strings and brass.
