Playing trumpet, the flutelike shakuhachi and electronics, Aaron Shragge creates spacious and spacey atmospheres with Luke Schwartz/g-elec, Damon Banks/b and Deric Dickens/dr. The nine original have rich, extraterrestial tones and ideas, kind of like mixing Brain Eno’s ambient electronics with early King Crimson. Shragge’s trumpet could be used for sound effects in the Star Trek series, going between planets on a moody bluesy “Cosmic Cliffs” while hovering like a space shuttle on “Reflection Nebula”. Soft machinations triccle on the clip clopping “Pillars” and Banks’ bass throbs like a Vulcan heartbet on “Reoinization”. Boldly playing where no man has gone before!
