MELLOW FUSION…Dan Fogelberg & Time Weisberg: No Resemblance Whatsoever

This reissue of the 1994 summit meeting between folk guitarist/vocalist Dan Fogelberg and jazz flutist Tim Weisberg was the follow-up to their highly successful 1978 outing Twin Sons of Different Mothers. Here, the two team up with session masters Larry Cohn/key, Michel Landau/g, Neil Stubenhaus/b, Vinnie Colaiuta/dr, Alex Acuna/perc and a horn section that includes Tom Scott and Pete Christlieb. Fogelberg takes on Jesse Colin Young’s “Sunlight” and “Songbird” to much mellow success with his own “Forever Jung” a funky treat. Weisberg is gorgeous on “County Claire” and floats around the nylons of the samba’d “Todos Santos”.  A reflection of an era when there were no genres except ‘good’ and “the other kind”.
