In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a wide collection of famed rockers got together on October 29-30 for an ultimate boxing match in Madison Square Garden for a four disc knockout punch of a collection of material. The fun thing about this gig are the fun mix and matches of artists, all there to celebrate America’s music.
For you folkies, you have Crosby, Stills and Nash mellow on “Woodstock” and joined by Bonnie Raitt for “Love Has No P ride” and Jackson Brown for ”Mexico”. Paul Simon is an absolute hoot with Dion on “The Wanderer” while returning to his roots with Art Garfunkel on “Mrs. Robinson/Not Fade Away”. Stevie Wonder joins with Smokey Robinson for “The Tracks of My Tears”, teams with John Legend on “Mercy Mercy Me” and digs deep with BB King on “The Thrill is Gone”
For metal heads, Jeff Beck does “A Day In The Life” and joins with Buddy Guy for a hard hitting “Let Me Love You Baby” while simmering with Billy Gibbons on “Foxey Lady”> Metallica shows up for “Enter Sandman” and brings in Ozzy Osbourne for “Iron Man”. Classic rockers like U2 and Bruce Springsteen hit the misses and icons such as Ray Davies of The Kinks and Jerry Lee Lewis turn back the clock. Oldies but Goodies, indeed!
