Subtitled “Me, the trumpet and the piano”, this album by Alan Chanbert playing horn and piano with Belden Bullock/b and Jon Di Firoe/dr (along with guest Luis Quintero/perc) is a cozy collection of classics. Chanbert goes Harmon mute the entire session, with a pair of Monk tunes sleek on a funky “Well You Needn’t” and dainty on a poetic “Misterioso”. His piano is comfy for “For All We Know” and Bill Evanish on “Peace Piece” while a duet with himself is dark on “Turn Out The Stars” and reflective on “I Will Say Goodbye”. Conversations with myself.
