Bassist Alain Bedard forms a sleek and pastoral quartet with fellow composers Michel Lambert/dr, Marie Fatima Rudolf/p and saxist Mario Allard for melodic and fragrant originals. Allard’s soprano shines over the pretty cadence of “Compe-Rendu II” and glowing “Mel & Less, while displaying a bopping alto for “Profumo Chaneleone” and the easy swinging “Celestes”. Bedard and Lambert get simpatico with Rudolf on a gliding “ Il Cappello Di Mia Sorella” and are hip when digging into “Rescape’ Des Temps” and “ Bis Du Gras Mollet”. Bon mots of post bop.
