Javier Nero plays lead trombone and even brings in some vocals to his massive orchestra for a collection of originals. The team has a bold sound, even getting frisky at times, as on the intro to “ The Blues IReincarated” while the reeds simmer over the percolating rhythm for Sean Jones’ trumpet on “Time”. Randy Brecker gets a solospot on the soulful “Nostalgic Haiku” and Tim Green’s alto is part of the team that gets a solo on the stretched out “Jam #3 (In C# Major”. Christie Dashiell brings some lovely voice to the title tune and a soft “Discord” with Warren Wolf’s vibes diggin in on “Nostalgic Haiku” like a pedestrian working through a crowded sidewalk. Lots of ideas flying around.
