Pianist Javier Red brings together a team of Gustavo Cortinas/dr, Jake Wark/ts-ss and Ben Dillinger/b for a collection of originals created to spread “empathy, understanding and love for autism”. The personal pieces range from funky and elliptical pieces like “Life” to dark ruminations by Red on” The Happiness of Hope”. There are a handful of solo interludes like the smoky tenor aria on “Umbrella” and a crystalline piano on “Life” while “Dillinger gives an intro to the stretched out “Future, Umbrella and Life”. There are some sharp angles on the herky-jerky “Brain Checking” and some elliptical harmonies on the plodding “Imaginary Friend” with shades of blue on “Interior World”.
