Sizzling salsa is delivered by leader/composer/keyboardist Gonzalo Grau and his festive team consisting of Panagiotis Andreou/b, Pablo Bencid/dr, Marcos Lopez/timb, Fausto Cuevas III-Roberto Quintero/cong, Albert Leusink-Dan Bratigan/tp, Shlomi Cohen/as, Felipe Salles/ts and Manolo Mairena/voc. There are enough guests that come and go to add distinction to each song, as the string teamof Brooklyn gives Bartokian harmonies to “Buscando La Melodia” and “Moros Y Cristianos”, and DJason Lindner adds a searing synth solo to the rapid run of “Bajale Dos”. The horns pop and snap like snow peas on “Comando Z” and “Mis Cuatro Acordes” and Mairena is a force of nature, giving an earthy intro to “Estatus Complicado” and wondrous around the leader’s pretty piano for “En LA Mochila”. There’s even a take of Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing” that sizzles like fried bananas. Cruising like a 61 Caddy with fins.
