Pianist Dave Bass continues to build his catalogue of threesomes, for an excellent workshop of readings of standards and originals with Kerry Kashiwagih/b and Scott Gordon/dr.. Of the former, Bass is graceful with Gordon’s brushes on “Endless Waltz”, while guitarist Barry Finnerty sits in for some Wes Montgomery moments on “Another Ending” and a deep dig on th dark “Agenbite of Inwit”. In trio format, the team gives tribute to Thelonious Monk with Washington in the spotlight for “Played Twice” and “Criss Cross”, while Bass is elegiac on “El Ciego” and graceful on “As Long As There’s Music”. Clean and classy.
