Composer Aaron Jay Myers creates a new approach to chamber music on this album, with songs ranging in delivery by solo voice to tentettes. The music is as varied as the band size as well, with a abstract “Save One Life, You Save The World Entire” flowing from Adrienne Baker/fl and Seychell D. Corbin/bs, and the richly dynamic “Clairsentiece” by the well toned Amy Advocat/cl and Philipp A. Staudlin/as. Modern madrigals are lively from the voices of Helen Hassinger, Emily Harmon, Wes Hunter and Brian Church on “You Get On My Nerves And I Don’t Like Your Hat” while soprano Stephanie Lamprea goes solo on seven “Lichens III” that range from high pitched warbles to buccinators-elicited percussion. A Bartokian “Late Night Banter” features the impressionistic tenor of Staudin on the modern classical ensemble of “Late Night Banter” with the album closing up on an easy 70s rocker of “Perception Stains Reality” from Aaron Jay Myers/g-b and Aaron Trant/dr. The pen cuts like a sword on these wide swaths.
